GMAmedia fileType is what MA3D reads from to render in the Scene...
The 3DS files need a small script in .XML[or not, one is created by default] for the Importer to read the file and save the data to the proprietary format for MA2/MA3.... Then you can Insert a model into MA3D for it to render...working as a fixtureType takes a bit more work.

NB: I opened the 3DS file and it appears as a performance hall with a piano player outside waiting for Load-In to begin...lol.
Building geometry is good, very simple[nice work!]; the Performer and his instrument...tad high in resources for what it represents. IE, no need for the elaborate pedals on the piano, etc...
