The original goal was to have two options with Highlight, first option ONLY turns lights white and full dim via an All Preset in Highlight mode, second option restores the console default Highlight operation (with an All preset with white, gobos open, beam and focus open).
Was able to get what I wanted at first by going into fixture profiles in Patch and did similar to what you suggested, then made an All preset that just turned Dim to 100% and Color to white. Things got weird when I made my second preset (All preset with white/no gobos/no beam+focus)... I activated that second preset, it worked, then I went back to that first All Preset BUT it would still clear out the gobos and beam/focus, even though there are ONLY dim and color values. Even after double-clicking that first All preset and even after DELETING the second ALL preset.
I kept playing around with Highlight presets in different presettypes but they just keep being "sticky" until a new preset with new attribute values is made: it never went back to fixture profile defaults. It's like the last attribute value sticks to Highlight until a new valus is put in, but it will never default to what's currently onstage in a cue or in the programmer even after selecting None in the fixture profile under Highlight.
I made a Position Highlight preset that puts everything in my Downstage position and activated it. I then deleted it and made sure the fixture profiles in Patch goes to None for pan/tilt. When I hit Highlight it still goes to Downstage position, seemingly ignoring fixture profile Highlight values, cue values and programmer values.
Then after your suggestion, editing the fixtures (with edit fixture please) to get rid of those values and setting them to None. I did that, and now Highlight doesn't respond to ANY Highlight presets at all. No All presets, no p/t or color or anything, its as if Highlight doesn't work anymore.
Hope that made sense. I'm thinking of reassigning fixture profiles like you said and giving it a try, best I do it now before I get too far into writing cues.
