Hey all, Is there a way to clone across fixture PresetTypes? I.e clone my dimmer 1 information from fixture 1 to dimmer 2 of fixture 2. Something like Clone Fixture 1 PresetType 1 at Fixture 2 PresetType 2 if Sequence x? Was trying this the other day but didn’t seem to work. Maybe a keystroke was wrong because I was pressed for time so perhaps this does work? Any ideas!? Thanks!by scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
Ya, the other 78 channel profile is the one I was hoping to use (with 17 instances- one for the main module and 16 for the rest) since it's what I'm familiar with in using x4 bars. Maybe I'll try the other one out and see if I like it better than the default 3D fixture since they're just so brutal with that massive circle. I have 9 of them in a line on a truss and then 4 in a box so it just looksby scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
Hey there, Anyone have a better model for the Elation Chorus Line 16 for MA3D? The internal ones are another classic case of the brutal circle housing. Thanks much!by scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
Fairly simple. Buy the KEYLIGHT pack here that contains a MUCH better MA3d fixture for the x4 bars. They need to be swapped in the instance manager and assigned in 3d to the keylight but more information about how to install and apply them to 3D is part of the package.by scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum

Depending on the hazer you could do something like these: Make a 'Go' button with the haze at full. On cue 1 Set the 'control' parameter to a 0 fade time and the dimmer parameter fade time to 15 seconds. Cue 2 would be haze at 0 with a dimmer fade time of 1 minute and 'control' parameter with a 0 fade tim. Or Cue 1 could be a follow cue with a timing trigger of 1m with 0 fade time with hazby scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
Gave it a go with my x4 20 and x4 10 bars. Tried both color effect and dimmer effect and didn't have the same issue. When the fixtures go to 0 for a 'hot second,' do they go back to 30% afterwards? Could be a phase issue. Could be a low value / high value issue. Do you have the effect at relative from 0% to 100%? Could be that it's going from the 30% to 100% and when the cycle is done, goingby scoobytoobins - grandMA2 Effects share
Sorry, I meant basically "Go cue one before cue 100" Go Cue 100 thru .001 - 100 works! Thanks Gralfby scoobytoobins - grandMA2 Macro share
Hey all, Trying to create a macro to select the cue before my Cue 100 (Scene cue which offs all pages besides the scene page) on each executor. Is this possible? Was trying to create a variable for cue '100 - 1' but because the cue before it may be cue 25 on Executor 1 and cue 39 on Executor 2 it's not seeming to make much sense. Any ideas?by scoobytoobins - grandMA2 Macro share
I have some down time during rehearsals this Sat. through Wednesday with some x4 10s and x4 20s. I can look to see if I have the same problem and see if I can resolve it. Otherwise just do it in a cue stack. Obviously takes an annoying amount of time comparatively to a one shot effect, but you'll get the same look.by scoobytoobins - grandMA2 Effects share
I'm not sure exactly what you're asking in the first question: do you want to adjust the rate of a SpecialMaster via fader and as soon as you let go of the fader, it returns exactly to where it was? For the second question this should help. Can be found in the settings of each of your layout views as 'Show ID'/'Show name'/'Show Type'by scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
This will help you a lot more than someone trying to explain it to you in mostly unfamiliar terms. You need a MIDI interface to connect whatever device is outputting MIDI (say, a laptop using Ableton Live), and to change the MIDI settings in gMA2 to choose that as the incoming MIDI device. You then go to Setup -> Remote Input Setup -> Midi Remotes Here you can map whatever MIDI note youby scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
Ya, simply you'd need a fader wing or a MIDI controller mapped to control those faders. Otherwise you cannot physically move those faders and unfortunately you cannot change the 1-6 fader slots to be 7-13 for example. You could, if you really wanted to, design a DMX remote with a dummy fixture that uses a CMD that moves executor 7-13 to 1-6 when triggered and bring 1-6 back when triggered agaby scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
There's a number of different ways you could do this. At least a few: Without TC: just trigger one cue which contains all 256 channels at full. Done. Without TC: just trigger one cue which contains a CMD that triggers any and all other executors / sequences that will output the 256 channels. With TC: assuming you know how to start a TC recording, you can go to the edit window (and the textby scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
Conversely, almost all of my shows are pre-programmed- lots of pages per show. A, if not THE first rule of thumb in my opinion is ALWAYS USE PRESETS. I'm not sure there is a single MA2 user out there that would disagree with this statement. Presets are the best way to get fixtures to reference data when outputting any and all parameters- from color to iris to strobe to position. These preby scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
Also possible that this show could be triggered via MIDI. Put quite simply, a computer (usually on stage and controlled by the musical director of the band) will be using some sort of digital audio workstation (DAW) to output audio to the PA. This can include audio tracks, loops, the click track, and a number of other things- including MIDI. Through an interface, MIDI signal can be sent to thby scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
Ugh, I know (think) I've seen this done before- just thought it did it automatically. Not sure how the tech had it set up, or maybe I was looking at it wrong. I'll see if I can find something on it. Sorry for misleading!by scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
Not sure exactly what you're asking. Are you trying to change fader pages from the web remote? If yes, the command (CMD) windows on the remote will give you the same buttons as an onPC albeit in a different order. 'Page' followed by a number and 'Please' will get you to that page. You can also change the setting on whatever hardware is running MA to lock button pages with the fader pages so tby scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
Basically, if you have a fixture with multiple instances (for example a K10 or a GLP x4 20 bar or even a Mac Aura), there is a 'main module' fixture (fixtureID.1) and all of its instances then become fixtureID.2+. This is so that you can control the main module's parameters (usually pan/tilt/shutter etc.) by using this fixtureID.1 while also being able to control each instance's individual parameby scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
Well presets are just referencing specific DMX values for that given preset. So, gobo preset 3.1 that looks like dots is really just saying- go to DMX value 'x' that spins the gobo wheel enough to get the dot gobo. This DMX value on another fixture, or another profile, might spin the wheel a different %, creating another gobo look. If you just update those gobo presets for the new fixtures theby scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
Check to make sure that you are using Touch OSC Bridge as well. This allows MA2 and the mac to talk to each other. OSC Bridge is a simple download and just runs in the background.by scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
I'm not sure- haven't had the same issue myself. Will try playing around and see if I can replicate it. One option is to switch to Lemur (another OSC), which is much more expensive, but rightly so. Most important for you, it has a 'trigger mode' that prevents double messages. This forum thread might help you in general: Will try to check back in if I discover anything on TouchOSCby scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
Thanks for your reply! So, yes, I have gone into custom .3ds models (from the 'keylight' package) but am having massive trouble when trying to render them. My render settings on 3D are about as low as it gets, and the computer I'm using for pre-viz is very powerful. Any specific tips for trying to get these models to be friendlier with 3D?by scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
Thanks Ryan and gralf, I checked MA3D settings even before making this post and really truly tried to turn down the render settings as much as possible. It's also a bit weird because the computer I'm using for previz is SUPER beefy and has a Geforce GTX 1080 ti graphics card in it. Yet even when I try to move four of my X4 20s at 20%, the frame rate drops to nearly 4 fps which is outrageouslyby scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
As far as I know the 'velocity' setting on touchOSC will produce that given velocity - Let's say OSC is triggering a MIDI note in Ableton and you need this note to be velocity 100 for the right sample to be produced. touchOSC allows you to produce this velocity through that setting. Unfortunately in MA2, there is no setting for incoming velocity, so it wouldn't change anything. That is, ifby scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
Do other buttons trigger twice or just this 'Go' button? I've never had this problem on Touch OSC, but a possible work-around is to use a simple macro that triggers the 'Go' and have a MIDI note trigger that macro via CMD. Would seem less likely that the iPad would run the macro twice on one press. Kai LD at Cour Design www.courdesign.com 1.401.451.0814by scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
Hey all, I'm programming a larger tour for this fall (in terms of parameters/universes needed) and I'm trying to get a decent pre-viz going but having trouble. I'm using a command wing with onPC and MA3D, but 3D is hating the keylight models of the GLP Impression X4 10 / 20 bars that I'm using (22 10s and 12 20s that are SUPER laggy) so I'm trying to move to Capture for pre-viz. Hey all, Having some trouble with grandMA2, Ableton and ClipSMPTE. For anyone that doesn't know, ClipSMPTE is a plugin for Ableton that allows SMPTE timecode to be warped live along with an audio track. So if you bump your track up two BPM, SMPTE will also follow at the new tempo. However, it also seems to generate its own TC. So, whenever a track is started, it uses the same TC time/track/sby scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
Would seem weird since it's only one of them but if you go into the fixture profile of the fixture and change the it's type to either conventional or beam instead of wash or something else, it'll throw a beam in 3D. Another option could be 'throws light' in MA3D settings.by scoobytoobins - grandMA2 discussion forum
